My name is Tamara Kennedy-Harris. I am 26 years old, and I started boxing in 2019 for fun in Victoria. Although I didn’t compete, I was obsessed with the sport, trained like a fighter, and admired fighters like Skye Nicholson, Taylah Robertson, and Sugar Neekz. I did a lot of research on amateur boxing in Australia and noticed the high quality of competition in Brisbane, which stood out to me, so I thought, "Why not just pack up my life in Melbourne and live in Brisbane?"

I was 22 years old and had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but it made sense, and I knew it was going to work out because I trusted myself enough to believe that whatever happens is meant to happen. So I left Melbourne to chase my dream.

I went on to live in Brisbane, traveling for three hours per day, Monday through Saturday, to train at unquestionably the best boxing gym this country has to offer, All-Star Boxing Academy. I worked so hard, and my sparring was no joke. I sparred with crazy-talented boys and girls who are the best you can get in Brisbane, if not the best in Australia.

There were lots of setbacks, mental breakdowns, and struggles, but I pulled through with my resilience and determination to never give up and to keep my dream alive. Due to being in a lightweight division and lacking experience, I was only able to have one fight during my time in Brisbane.

I returned to Melbourne and discovered Real Deal Boxing Club in Moorabbin, where I trained under Christian Ennor, with whom I've now had two fights. Training in Melbourne has led me to great opportunities, such as being a part of YAMMY Boxing. I have a long way to go, but my development over the past 3 years has been amazing yet very unique, and I hope this inspires someone to just go for it because you won’t regret it.

She was raised in an artistic environment; dancing and telling stories through art were huge parts of her childhood. She draws inspiration from the exquisite works of art created by her parents, who have had a significant impact on her artistic development.
